Like the Dutch, the Italians have a superb city bike culture, mostly
isolated in the North. The Granturismo is the classic Italian city
bike, seen all over the streets of Parma, Ferrera, and Milan. Its
lightweight design keeps things sporty and nimble while its full
chaincase keeps those Armani trousers free of chain oil. Gorgeous
colors and luxury grips and seat give the ABICI Granturismo a refined
elegance.
Italy is known for its performance race bicycle culture, but not city
bikes. While the Northern Europeans have been inspiring North Americans
with their bicycle culture for years, the Italians have been riding
bikes in their tightly packed cities for years – except nobody knew
about it. Towns like Ferrera have a daily bicycle usage rate of 31%,
which is near that of Amsterdam, and the streets are packed with
lightweight city bikes with brands no one has ever heard of. Except
ABICI. Because Italian bicycle culture is fairly insular, the
competition between Italian bicycle companies have been fierce, causing
a move to Chinese production. To ABICI this was a shame, Italian city
bikes have always been built with the same quality as the high end road
bikes. In an effort to resurrect the classic Italian city bike, ABICI
hired the former steel brazers at Pinarello to build their gorgeous
lugged frames. And they started to export the Italian bike, for the
first time ever. The ABICI is different from the Dutch or Danish bikes.
They feature steeper angles and lighter frames, making them a bit more
sportive. But then, in Italy issues like outdoor winter storage and
rust aren’t huge problems. The ABICI is perfect for warmer climate or
anyone who has space for indoor storage. They’re beautiful bikes, with
colours borrowed from old Fiats and Piaggos and a full chainguard to
keep the rider as handsome as the bike. ABICI is future memories, a
bicycle in its pure conceptual form, a perfect combination of yesterday
and of tomorrow, to pedal today. ABICI have the optimal pure form, as
there are no wires or other attachments the sensuality of the form is
highlighted, a bicycle in its naked form. ABICI, simple and harmonious
with its retro simplicity and hi-tech features makes it recognizable
and pure. Handmade in Italy, each piece is rigorously tested. This
