We ship our bikes ship via FedEx ground, and total shipment time takes approximately 2-7 business days in-transit after leaving our warehouse. Most bikes ship from our warehouse within 1 business day. Please refer to this map to view estimated shipping time to your location.

All accessories ship free! Most accessories ship via USPS first class mail. In some cases, most often with larger orders, we ship accessories via USPS parcel post, FedEx ground, or UPS ground. Remember, all accessories ship free to all 50 United States!

We ship to all 50 states in the USA! Bike Shipments to Hawaii and Alaska require additional cost. To get an exact quote on shipping to Hawaii and Alaska, simply calculate the shipping cost in our online checkout! As of now, international shipping is not available. However, if you would like to request a custom quote for an international shipment, please contact us for a rate quote.

Please note: we cannot ship bikes to P.O. Boxes or APO/FPO addresses. Bikes can only be shipped to physical addresses.

All bikes are packed very carefully into a durable multi-layer cardboard shipping box (pictured below) to ensure that your bike arrives in good condition. You may notice that the shipping carton has been slightly damaged in transit, but in most cases the bike inside is ok! (a little damage to the shipping box is normal) In the unusual case that your bike does arrive damaged from shipping, please review our damage policy. This rarely happens, but when it does we want to make sure we fix it! In case of damage from shipping, please make sure to keep the shipping box and all packaging. This is important! Also please note: sometimes minor scratches, minor scuffing, tiny dents, and slight dirt residue can occur to bikes during the shipping process. This  type of slight damage is allowable damage according to our shipping policy.

Bicycle Assembly Information

Our bikes are approximately 85%-90% fully assembled and carefully packed into our multi-layer durable bicycle shipping cartons. Assembly of Makai Bikes generally involves the following: bolting on front wheel, attaching handlebars, adjusting seat, and attaching/adjusting fenders/reflectors, if applicable. Some other  assembly may be required, since some bikes have additional accessories or features. (for example: a water bottle cage) More assembly info here.

Important Safety Note: for your safety, professional assembly of your bike is recommended! Most local bike shops can complete assembly of your new bike for a small fee. We are not responsible for any labor costs you may incur due to paying for professional assembly! We do not advise you to assemble your bike on your own unless you have the required skills and training. Please be advised that you assemble your bike at your own risk. If you do assemble your own bike, you are strongly advised to get a bicycle safety inspection from a local bicycle shop to ensure your bike is safe to ride. Do not ride your bike without first having it inspected or professionally assembled.

Returns Policy


Everything sold at MakaiBikes.com is backed by our no-hassle satisfaction guarantee. You may return any new, unopened items within 30 days of delivery for a full refund. You can also return any used items you are not satisfied with within 30 days of delivery for a full refund or an exchange. We want you to be happy with your purchase! Please do not ship anything back to us without a return authorization. All returns must first be authorized so we can give you detailed instructions on where to send your item(s).

You should expect to receive your refund within four weeks of giving your package to the return shipper, however, in many cases you will receive a refund more quickly. This time period includes the transit time for us to receive your return from the shipper (5 to 10 business days), the time it takes us to process your return once we receive it (3 to 5 business days), and the time it takes your bank to process our refund request (5 to 15 business days). You are responsible for return shipping costs. For shipping bikes, we recommend using FedEx ground service. For shipping accessories and small items, we recommend shipping via USPS.

If you need to return an item, simply contact us to request a return authorization. We'll send you an email with detailed instructions. After we receive your returned item(s), we will notify you via e-mail of your refund or exchange once we've received and processed the returned item. Please be aware that returns can take several weeks to process, but can sometimes be processed more quickly.
