BMX Bicycles! BMX stands for "Bicycle Motorcross". The BMX bike sport started in the early 1970's when kids began racing their bikes on backyard dirt tracks in California. At the time, kids were inspired by motorcross riders to imitate their motorycle riding on bicycles. Today, the sport has grown to be a worldwide recognized sport and is a favorite event at X games events, particularly the freestyle BMX events. The International Olympic Committee made BMX a medal sport for the 2008 summer games that took place in Beijing, China. Getting Olympic status was a major achievement for the sport of BMX bikes. The future of BMX looks very strong!
